長老 Duff 說: 回想當年在台歲月, 一起攀爬基隆山, 我跟 Joel 總是爭搶頭香, 看看誰才是第一個登頂的. 回美國才幾年功夫, 我的蓄鬚竟然已現花白..., 真是歲月催人老. 新年剛過, 春節也隨即而至, 回顧過去一年, 我們所努力的 - 追隨耶穌基督的腳步, 離重返 神的王國的目標, 相信是更進一步了. (在此順祝生日即將到來的 Paul 生日快樂; 伴隨著歌聲響起, Paul 語重心長的說, 快有40年沒聽過唱給我的生日快樂歌了)

哥林多後書 2 Corinthians 5:17
若有人在基督裡、他就是新造的人．舊事已過、都變成新的了。
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
原文說的是, 洗禮過後的人, 猶如新生一般, 過去種種皆拋棄, 自今日起, 一切重頭來過. 也適合在這歲末年初時, 拿來與人互勉. 所以這是聖經裡我所喜愛的章節之一.
耶利米書 Jeremiah 6:16
耶和華如此說、你們當站在路上察看、訪問古道、那是善道、便行在其間．這樣、你們心裡必得安息．他們卻說、我們不行在其間。
This is what the LORD says: "Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask
where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, 'We will not walk in it.'
很多先知都勸告人們, 忘卻過去種種惡息, 即日起悔改更新, 選擇信靠 主的善道前行. 好似金山海邊的石頭區, 有平坦的沙灘, 可以安心散步, 也有大如房子的, 必得繞道而行; 一如檢選 主的道, 那就是一條平坦安心的道.
可是, 現今有很多人的目光, 多著重在房子.車子.3C產品, 甚至在股海裡逐浪. 殊不知, 2000 多年前的耶穌基督, 就已經把焦點放在我們每一個人的身上, 為的就是希望, 有朝一日, 我們都能追隨 他一起重返 神的王國.
希伯來書 Hebrews 12:1-2
1 我們既有這許多的見證人、如同雲彩圍著我們、就當放下各樣的重擔、脫去容易纏累我們的罪、存心忍耐、奔那擺在我們前頭的路程、
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
2 仰望為我們信心創始成終的耶穌．〔或作仰望那將真道創始成終的耶穌〕他因那擺在前面的喜樂、就輕看羞辱、忍受了十字架的苦難、便坐在 神寶座的右邊。
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
神派他的愛子, 來人世免去我們的罪, 耶穌基督甚至犧牲他自己的性命, 以為我們擔負所有的罪; 我想人們應該感恩惜福, 謙卑的祈告 主的恩賜與赦免; 並經由洗禮和接受聖靈, 再藉讀經, 聽福音, 禱告, 進一步的信靠 神, 以到達 神所應許 - 永生的國度.
阿爾瑪書 Alma 16:170-173
170 但是如果你們肯培養 神的道，當那棵樹開始生長的時候，就藉著你們的信心，用最大的努力而耐性培養它，盼望著它的果子，它一定會生根；它一定會長成一棵樹而得到永恆的生命。
But if ye will nourish the word, yea, nourish the tree as it beginneth to grow, by your faith with great diligence, and with patience, looking forward to the fruit thereof, it shall take root; and behold, it shall be a tree springing up unto everlasting life;
171 由於你們的勤奮，你們的信心、和你耐性來培養； 神的道，使 神的道在你們裡面生拫，看啊，不久你們就將採摘那果子了，那果子是最寶貴，比一切都甜蜜，比一切都白淨，比一切都純潔。
And because of your diligence, and your faith, and your patience with the word, in nourishing it, that it may take root in you, behold, by and by, ye shall pluck the fruit thereof, which is most precious, which is sweet above all that is sweet, and which is white above all that is white; yea, and pure above all that is pure;
172 你們將享受這果子，直到使你們吃飽，你們不會饑餓，也不會口渴。
And ye shall feast upon this fruit, even until ye are filled, that ye hunger not, neither shall ye thirst.
173 那時候，我的弟兄們，你們的信心、你們的辛勤、耐性、和等待著那樹為你們結果子的長期忍受，都必獲得報酬。
Then my brethren ye shall reap the rewards of your faith, and your diligence, and patience, and long suffering, waiting for the tree to bring forth fruit unto you.
神創設萬物與人類, 他當然知道我們的弱點, 所以賜給我們聖靈, 經聖靈的導引, 一點一點的修正, 執拗的, 不與人相近的脾氣, 甚至短視的套利...等等等偏差的行為. 如果你心中, 已然種有那信心的種子, 就該日日澆灌小心呵護, 培養它長大. 方法無他, 用的正是讀經, 聽福音, 禱告再禱告, 一心一意的信靠他 - 遵奉他是惟一的真神, 還有愛鄰如己的誡律.
腓利比書 Philippians 3:8-14
8 不但如此、我也將萬事當作有損的、因我以認識我主基督耶穌為至寶。我為他已經丟棄萬事、看作糞土、為要得著基督．
What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ
9 並且得以在他裡面、不是有自己因律法而得的義、乃是有信基督的義、就是因信 神而來的義．
and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ--the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.
10 使我認識基督、曉得他復活的大能、並且曉得和他一同受苦、效法他的死．
I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,
11 或者我也得以從死裡復活。
and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.
12 這不是說、我已經得著了、已經完全了．我乃是竭力追求、或者可以得著基督耶穌所以得著我的。〔所以得著我的或作所要我得的〕
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.
13 弟兄們、我不是以為自己已經得著了．我只有一件事、就是忘記背後努力面前的、
Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,
14 向著標竿直跑、要得 神在基督耶穌裡從上面召我來得的獎賞。
I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
人縱然英才, 往往百密一疏, 難以與 神比擬, 不如時時禱告, 以求 神適時的資助, 使得事情更趨於圓滿.
詩篇 Psalms 119:105
你的話是我腳前的燈、是我路上的光。
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.
當你陷入迷霧的紛亂時, 神是指引你的燈光, 而想藉 神的資助, 不外乎勤讀聖經, 因為他的道就在那字裡行間, 以及時時的禱告, 好接受他應允的信息.
箴言 Proverbs 3:5-6
5 你要專心仰賴耶和華、不可倚靠自己的聰明．
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
6 在你一切所行的事上、都要認定他、他必指引你的路。
in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
人類有牛頓.伽利略.阿基米德等等大師, 卻依然無法解開大自然的奧秘於萬一. 所以信靠 主, 猶如我們人生的 GPS 導航系統, 由他帶領我們走入一條坦途, 而不會迷失在人海中.
過去這一年, 我們聽聞許多人的見證, 像是 Paul 的失聲回復, Rachel 手機失而復得, Eric 感受妻女受洗後的轉變, 也受洗成為基督徒, 到最近 Belinda 的因身體不適, 受基督徒伸援手而感到 神的召喚等.
我兒 Joel 在不久前離開阿富汗戰區, 返回美國本土, 他告訴我一件最近發生的事:
一次例行飛行出勤任務前, 他做了禱告, 祈求 上帝帶領他們平安歸來, 就在快結束時, 班長厲聲催促上直昇機, 快速離開地面, 隨即聽到一聲很大的悶響, 返回基地後, 才聽說剛剛巨大悶響, 是一個人肉炸彈, 就在他們直昇機離開後被引爆. 感謝 主!

Q: 曾有人問我說, 我又不是基督徒, 我可以禱告嗎? 神會聽我的禱告嗎?
A: 我想, 只要你願意, 你隨時隨地都可以禱告, 不須經由任何人, 也無須任何的儀式, 因為禱告, 就像在跟 神講講悄悄的知己話一般, 那麼簡單易行; 再者, 神愛世人, 希望有一天人們都能回到他身邊. 所以為什麼不是基督徒, 也一樣可以禱告? 因為無論任何人, 任何身分都是 神的子女, 且自亞當夏娃從伊甸園離開後, 神一直希望以某種方式, 來彌補 神與人之間的鴻溝, 所以禱告, 就成了這溝通的管道.
