列王記上(1 Kings) 1:13-14, 30, 37
13 你進去見大衛王、對他說、我主我王阿、你不曾向婢女起誓說、你兒子所羅門必接續我作王、坐在我的位上麼．現在亞多尼雅怎麼作了王呢。
Go in to King David and say to him, 'My
lord the king, did you not swear to me your servant: "Surely Solomon your
son shall be king after me, and he will sit on my throne"? Why then has
Adonijah become king?'
14 你還與王說話的時候、我也隨後進去、證實你的話。
While you are still there talking to the
king, I will come in and confirm what you have said."
30 我既然指著耶和華以色列的 神向你起誓、說、你兒子所羅門必接續我作王、坐在我的位上、我今日就必照這話而行。
I will surely carry out
today what I swore to you by the LORD, the God of Israel: Solomon your son
shall be king after me, and he will sit on my throne in my place."
37 耶和華怎樣與我主我王同在、願他照樣與所羅門同在、使他的國位、比我主大衛王的國位更大。
As the LORD was with my lord the king, so
may he be with Solomon to make his throne even greater than the throne of my
lord King David!"
話說大衛王嬪妃眾多, 個個無不想方設法, 要讓自己的兒子繼承王位, 困惑的大衛王, 尋求先知探詢 神的旨意, 神遂明白告訴他, 將王位傳給所羅門, 他就是大衛王當初貪慕的人妻--小三, 夫戰死前線, 被大衛王娶進門後所生的兒子.
列王記上(1 Kings) 2:1-4
1 大衛的死期臨近了、就囑咐他兒子所羅門說、
When the time drew near for David to die,
he gave a charge to Solomon his son.
2 我現在要走世人必走的路、所以你當剛強作大丈夫、
"I am about to go the way of all the
earth," he said. "So be strong, show yourself a man,
3 遵守耶和華你 神所吩咐的、照著摩西律法上所寫的行主的道、謹守他的律例、誡命、典章、法度、這樣、你無論作甚麼事、不拘往何處去、盡都亨通。
and observe what the LORD your God
requires: Walk in his ways, and keep his decrees and commands, his laws and
requirements, as written in the Law of Moses, so that you may prosper in all
you do and wherever you go,
4 耶和華必成就向我所應許的話說、你的子孫若謹慎自己的行為、盡心盡意誠誠實實的行在我面前、就不斷人坐以色列的國位。
and that the LORD may keep his promise to
me: 'If your descendants watch how they live, and if they walk faithfully
before me with all their heart and soul, you will never fail to have a man on
the throne of Israel .'
列王記上(1 Kings) 3:7-14
7 耶和華我的 神阿、如今你使僕人接續我父親大衛作王、但我是幼童、不知道應當怎樣出入。
"Now, O LORD my God, you have made
your servant king in place of my father David. But I am only a little child and
do not know how to carry out my duties.
8 僕人住在你所揀選的民中．這民多得不可勝數。
Your servant is here among the people you
have chosen, a great people, too numerous to count or number.
9 所以求你賜我智慧、可以判斷你的民、能辨別是非．不然、誰能判斷這眾多的民呢。
So give your servant a discerning heart to
govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able
to govern this great people of yours?"
10 所羅門因為求這事、就蒙主喜悅。
The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked
for this.
11 神對他說、你既然求這事、不為自己求壽、求富、也不求滅絕你仇敵的性命、單求智慧可以聽訟、
So God said to him, "Since you have
asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself, nor have asked for
the death of your enemies but for discernment in administering justice,
12 我就應允你所求的、賜你聰明智慧、甚至在你以前沒有像你的、在你以後也沒有像你的．
I will do what you have asked. I will give
you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like
you, nor will there ever be.
13 你所沒有求的我也賜給你、就是富足、尊榮、使你在世的日子、列王中沒有一個能比你的。
Moreover, I will give you what you have not
asked for--both riches and honor--so that in your lifetime you will have no
equal among kings.
14 你若效法你父親大衛、遵行我的道、謹守我的律例、誡命、我必使你長壽。
And if you walk in my ways and obey my
statutes and commands as David your father did, I will give you a long
life."
所羅門初即王位, 是年方20的小伙子, 心中甚是惶惶不可終日, 有一日夜裡, 夢到與 神談話, 神問他何所求; 他說我只求有足夠的智慧能夠處理大大小小的國事; 神甚喜悅他無私的祈求, 遂答應他所求, 並將他所沒有祈求的長壽, 財富, 權力與榮耀全歸於他.
列王記上(1 Kings) 3:16-28
16 一日有兩個妓女來、站在王面前。
Now two prostitutes came to the king and
stood before him.
17 一個說、我主阿、我和這婦人同住一房、他在房中的時候、我生了一個男孩．
One of them said, "My lord, this woman
and I live in the same house. I had a baby while she was there with me.
18 我生孩子後第三日、這婦人也生了孩子．我們是同住的、除了我們二人之外、房中再沒有別人．
The third day after my child was born, this
woman also had a baby. We were alone; there was no one in the house but the two
of us.
19 夜間這婦人睡著的時候、壓死了他的孩子．
"During the night this woman's son
died because she lay on him.
20 他半夜起來、趁我睡著、從我旁邊把我的孩子抱去、放在他懷裡、將他的死孩子放在我懷裡．
So she got up in the middle of the night
and took my son from my side while I your servant was asleep. She put him by
her breast and put her dead son by my breast.
21 天要亮的時候、我起來要給我的孩子喫奶、不料、孩子死了．及至天亮、我細細的察看、不是我所生的孩子。
The next morning, I got up to nurse my
son--and he was dead! But when I looked at him closely in the morning light, I
saw that it wasn't the son I had borne."
22 那婦人說、不然、活孩子是我的、死孩子是你的。這婦人說、不然、死孩子是你的、活孩子是我的。他們在王面前如此爭論。
The other woman said, "No! The living
one is my son; the dead one is yours." But the first one insisted,
"No! The dead one is yours; the living one is mine." And so they
argued before the king.
23 王說、這婦人說、活孩子是我的、死孩子是你的、那婦人說、不然、死孩子是你的、活孩子是我的．
The king said, "This one says, 'My son
is alive and your son is dead,' while that one says, 'No! Your son is dead and
mine is alive.'"
24 就吩咐說、拿刀來、人就拿刀來．
Then the king said, "Bring me a
sword." So they brought a sword for the king.
25 王說、將活孩子劈成兩半、一半給那婦人、一半給這婦人。
He then gave an order: "Cut the living
child in two and give half to one and half to the other."
26 活孩子的母親為自己的孩子心裡急痛、就說、求我主將活孩子給那婦人罷、萬不可殺他。那婦人說、這孩子也不歸我、也不歸你、把他劈了罷。
The woman whose son was alive was filled
with compassion for her son and said to the king, "Please, my lord, give
her the living baby! Don't kill him!" But the other said, "Neither I
nor you shall have him. Cut him in two!"
27 王說、將活孩子給這婦人、萬不可殺他、這婦人實在是他的母親。
Then the king gave his ruling: "Give
the living baby to the first woman. Do not kill him; she is his
mother."
28 以色列眾人聽見王這樣判斷、就都敬畏他、因為見他心裡有 神的智慧、能以斷案。
When all Israel heard the verdict the king
had given, they held the king in awe, because they saw that he had wisdom from
God to administer justice.
睿智的所羅門王, 在位其間的一樁著名的判例,
列王記上(1 Kings) 3:1-2
1 所羅門與埃及王法老結親、娶了法老的女兒為妻、接他進入大衛城、直等到造完了自己的宮、和耶和華的殿、並耶路撒冷周圍的城牆。
Solomon made an alliance with Pharaoh king
of Egypt
and married his daughter. He brought her to the City of David
until he finished building his palace and the temple of the LORD, and the wall
around Jerusalem .
2 當那些日子、百姓仍在邱壇獻祭、因為還沒有為耶和華的名建殿。
The people, however, were still sacrificing
at the high places, because a temple had not yet been built for the Name of the
LORD.
所羅門王終其在位其間, 大興土木, 除了興建自己的行宮, 也代父完成建造了 神的聖殿的心願, 並用最為珍貴的黃金與最佳的建材, 製造了一只約櫃(Ark of God), 存放著自摩西以來所頒布的所有律法, 包括著名的十誡.
現今耶路撒冷城聖殿牆中, 還保有一塊所羅門王當初建殿時, 所放立的基石, 將來當耶穌基督再度來臨時, 會用來奠基與重建新的聖殿.
所羅門王因為得到 神的恩典, 智勇兼備, 戰無不勝, 攻無不克, 國力大大的提昇, 四方小族小國都來朝貢; 聲望如日中天之際, 此時卻步入大衛王的後塵 – 妻妾成群, 此舉甚不得 神的喜悅, 微微觸怒 神.
列王記上(1 Kings) 11:4, 9-11
4 所羅門年老的時候、他的妃嬪誘惑他的心、去隨從別神、不效法他父親大衛、誠誠實實的順服耶和華他的 神。
As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his
heart after other gods, and his heart was not fully devoted to the LORD his
God, as the heart of David his father had been.
9 耶和華向所羅門發怒、因為他的心偏離向他兩次顯現的耶和華以色列的 神．
The LORD became angry
with Solomon because his heart had turned away from the LORD, the God of
Israel, who had appeared to him twice.
10 耶和華曾吩咐他不可隨從別神．他卻沒有遵守耶和華所吩咐的。
Although he had
forbidden Solomon to follow other gods, Solomon did not keep the LORD'S
command.
11 所以耶和華對他說、你既行了這事、不遵守我所吩咐你守的約和律例、我必將你的國奪回、賜給你的臣子。
So the LORD said to
Solomon, "Since this is your attitude and you have not kept my covenant
and my decrees, which I commanded you, I will most certainly tear the kingdom
away from you and give it to one of your subordinates.
最不該聽從三妻四妾的話語, 敬拜 耶和華以外的神祇, 終於惹惱了 神, 聲言將收回所賜予的一切, 所羅門王在位才短短40年(967BC--927BC), 就因為不聽從 神的話語, 違逆了 神的誡律, 不僅失去他的一切,
也使得以色列王國, 由登峰造極之界, 國勢一洩千里, 終於埋下日後分崩離兮, 再度走上滅國之途.
聽從 神話語的, 必得到 神時時的保護, 眷顧與恩賜; 不愛親近 神的, 神也不在他身旁.
下周, 我們繼續來談有關所羅門王的著作 – 傳道書 (Ecclesias) 的內容.
今耶路撒冷城中, 有一道著名的 ”哭牆”
(Wailing wall): 以色列滅國後, 先後受巴比倫帝國與羅馬帝國為奴好幾世紀,
羅馬人除將大衛王與所羅門王所建舊城摧毀, 並屠殺希伯來人, 還永遠放逐他們不得進城, 致顛沛流離失所; 羅馬希律王在舊址蓋新宮殿時, 獨留一片牆, 似在羞辱希伯來人, 又故做矯情允許他們在城破之日在此祈禱,
懺悔和歌頌 神, 因為群眾情緒太過激動, 如訴如泣故名”哭牆”.
