為奴四百年的希伯來人, 潛心修養默默忍受著懲處, 依然堅信 神的指引; 終於感動了上帝, 指派摩西帶領希伯來人, 離開埃及前往應許之地. 摩西自愧沒那能力, 上帝說將令你兄長亞倫幫忙.
上帝知道埃及法老王, 雖歷經十大災難, 仍不想放過建城的龐大希伯來奴僕, 必然會派兵馬隨後追趕摩西等一大群人, 於是一路上派有天使與聖火指引, 意欲使捧著約瑟骨灰罈的摩西, 能順利帶領群眾安全的抵達應許之地.
出埃及記 (Exodus) 14:19-26
19 在以色列營前行走 神的使者、轉到他們後邊去、雲柱也從他們前邊轉到他們後邊立住。
Then the angel of God, who had been traveling in front of Israel 's army, withdrew and went behind them. The pillar of cloud also moved from in front and stood behind them,
20 在埃及營和以色列營中間有雲柱、一邊黑暗、一邊發光、終夜兩下不得相近。
coming between the armies of Egypt and Israel . Throughout the night the cloud brought darkness to the one side and light to the other side; so neither went near the other all night long.
21 摩西向海伸杖、耶和華便用大東風、使海水一夜退去、水便分開、海就成了乾地。
Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the LORD drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided,
22 以色列人下海中走乾地、水在他們的左右作了牆垣。
and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left.
23 埃及人追趕他們、法老一切的馬匹、車輛、和馬兵、都跟著下到海中。
The Egyptians pursued them, and all Pharaoh's horses and chariots and horsemen followed them into the sea.
24 到了晨更的時候、耶和華從雲火柱中向埃及的軍兵觀看、使埃及的軍兵混亂了。
During the last watch of the night the LORD looked down from the pillar of fire and cloud at the Egyptian army and threw it into confusion.
25 又使他們的車輪脫落、難以行走、以致埃及人說、我們從以色列人面前逃跑罷、因耶和華為他們攻擊我們了。
He made the wheels of their chariots come off so that they had difficulty driving. And the Egyptians said, "Let's get away from the Israelites! The LORD is fighting for them against Egypt ."
26 耶和華對摩西說、你向海伸杖、叫水仍合在埃及人並他們的車輛、馬兵身上。
Then the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand over the sea so that the waters may flow back over the Egyptians and their chariots and horsemen."
l 今日的考古學家曾在紅海裡, 發現大量的古戰車及槍械的殘骸, 以資證明聖經所言不虛!
出埃及記 (Exodus) 16:1-5 ; 22-23 ; 31-35
1 以色列全會眾從以琳起行、在出埃及後第二個月十五日、到了以琳和西乃中間、汛的曠野。
The whole Israelite community set out from Elim and came to the Desert of Sin , which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after they had come out of Egypt .
2 以色列全會眾在曠野向摩西、亞倫發怨言、
In the desert the whole community grumbled against Moses and Aaron.
3 說、巴不得我們早死在埃及地耶和華的手下、那時我們坐在肉鍋旁邊、喫得飽足．你們將我們領出來、到這曠野、是要叫這全會眾都餓死阿。
The Israelites said to them, "If only we had died by the LORD'S hand in Egypt ! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death."
4 耶和華對摩西說、我要將糧食從天降給你們、百姓可以出去、每天收每天的分、我好試驗他們遵不遵我的法度。
Then the LORD said to Moses, "I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day. In this way I will test them and see whether they will follow my instructions.
5 到第六天他們要把所收進來的豫備好了、比每天所收的多一倍。
On the sixth day they are to prepare what they bring in, and that is to be twice as much as they gather on the other days."
22 到第六天、他們收了雙倍的食物、每人兩俄梅珥．會眾的官長來告訴摩西。
On the sixth day, they gathered twice as much--two omers for each person--and the leaders of the community came and reported this to Moses.
23 摩西對他們說、耶和華這樣說、明天是聖安息日、是向耶和華守的聖安息日、你們要烤的就烤了、要煮的就煮了、所剩下的都留到早晨。
He said to them, "This is what the LORD commanded: 'Tomorrow is to be a day of rest, a holy Sabbath to the LORD. So bake what you want to bake and boil what you want to boil. Save whatever is left and keep it until morning.'"
31 這食物、以色列家叫嗎哪．樣子像芫荽子、顏色是白的、滋味如同攙蜜的薄餅。
The people of Israel called the bread manna. It was white like coriander seed and tasted like wafers made with honey.
32 摩西說、耶和華所吩咐的是這樣．要將一滿俄梅珥嗎哪留到世世代代、使後人可以看見我當日將你們領出埃及地、在曠野所給你們喫的食物。
Moses said, "This is what the LORD has commanded: 'Take an omer of manna and keep it for the generations to come, so they can see the bread I gave you to eat in the desert when I brought you out of Egypt .'"
33 摩西對亞倫說、你拿一個罐子、盛一滿俄梅珥嗎哪、存在耶和華面前、要留到世世代代。
So Moses said to Aaron, "Take a jar and put an omer of manna in it. Then place it before the LORD to be kept for the generations to come."
34 耶和華怎麼吩咐摩西、亞倫就怎麼行、把嗎哪放在法櫃前存留。
As the LORD commanded Moses, Aaron put the manna in front of the Testimony, that it might be kept.
35 以色列人喫嗎哪共四十年、直到進了有人居住之地、就是迦南的境界。
The Israelites ate manna forty years, until they came to a land that was settled; they ate manna until they reached the border of Canaan .
出埃及記 (Exodus) 17:3-6
3 百姓在那裡甚渴、要喝水、就向摩西發怨言、說、你為甚麼將我們從埃及領出來、使我們和我們的兒女並牲畜、都渴死呢。
But the people were thirsty for water there, and they grumbled against Moses. They said, "Why did you bring us up out of Egypt to make us and our children and livestock die of thirst?"
4 摩西就呼求耶和華說、我向這百姓怎樣行呢、他們幾乎要拿石頭打死我。
Then Moses cried out to the LORD, "What am I to do with these people? They are almost ready to stone me."
5 耶和華對摩西說、你手裡拿著你先前擊打河水的杖、帶領以色列的幾個長老、從百姓面前走過去。
The LORD answered Moses, "Walk on ahead of the people. Take with you some of the elders of Israel and take in your hand the staff with which you struck the Nile , and go.
6 我必在何烈的磐石那裡站在你面前．你要擊打磐石、從磐石裡必有水流出來、使百姓可以喝。摩西就在以色列的長老眼前這樣行了。
I will stand there before you by the rock at Horeb. Strike the rock, and water will come out of it for the people to drink." So Moses did this in the sight of the elders of Israel .
出埃及記 (Exodus) 19:1-7 ; 17-20
1 以色列人出埃及地以後、滿了三個月的那一天、就來到西乃的曠野。
In the third month after the Israelites left Egypt --on the very day--they came to the Desert of Sinai .
2 他們離了利非訂來到西乃的曠野、就在那裡的山下安營。
After they set out from Rephidim, they entered the Desert of Sinai , and Israel camped there in the desert in front of the mountain.
3 摩西到 神那裡、耶和華從山上呼喚他說、你要這樣告訴雅各家、曉諭以色列人、說、
Then Moses went up to God, and the LORD called to him from the mountain and said, "This is what you are to say to the house of Jacob and what you are to tell the people of Israel :
4 我向埃及人所行的事、你們都看見了、且看見我如鷹將你們背在翅膀上、帶來歸我。
'You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt , and how I carried you on eagles' wings and brought you to myself.
5 如今你們若實在聽從我的話、遵守我的約、就要在萬民中作屬我的子民、因為全地都是我的．
Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine,
6 你們要歸我作祭司的國度、為聖潔的國民．這些話你要告訴以色列人。
you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites."
7 摩西去召了民間的長老來、將耶和華所吩咐他的話、都在他們面前陳明。
So Moses went back and summoned the elders of the people and set before them all the words the LORD had commanded him to speak.
17 摩西率領百姓出營迎接 神、都站在山下。
Then Moses led the people out of the camp to meet with God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain.
18 西乃全山冒煙、因為耶和華在火中降於山上、山的煙氣上騰、如燒一般．遍山大大的震動。
Mount Sinai was covered with smoke, because the LORD descended on it in fire. The smoke billowed up from it like smoke from a furnace, the whole mountain trembled violently,
19 角聲漸漸的高而又高、摩西就說話、 神有聲音答應他。
and the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder. Then Moses spoke and the voice of God answered him.
20 耶和華降臨在西乃山頂上、耶和華召摩西上山頂、摩西就上去。
The LORD descended to the top of Mount Sinai and called Moses to the top of the mountain. So Moses went up
出埃及記 (Exodus) 20:1-17 ( 十誡 )
1 神吩咐這一切的話、說、
And God spoke all these words:
2 我是耶和華你的 神、曾將你從埃及地為奴之家領出來。
"I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt , out of the land of slavery.
3 除了我以外、你不可有別的神。
"You shall have no other gods before me.
4 不可為自己雕刻偶像、也不可作甚麼形像、彷彿上天、下地、和地底下、水中的百物．
"You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.
5 不可跪拜那些像、也不可事奉他、因為我耶和華你的 神是忌邪的 神、恨我的、我必追討他的罪、自父及子、直到三四代．
You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,
6 愛我守我誡命的、我必向他們發慈愛、直到千代。
but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.
7 不可妄稱耶和華你 神的名、因為妄稱耶和華名的、耶和華必不以他為無罪。
"You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.
8 當記念安息日、守為聖日。
"Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.
9 六日要勞碌作你一切的工．
Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
10 但第七日是向耶和華你 神當守的安息日．這一日你和你的兒女、僕婢、牲畜、並你城裡寄居的客旅、無論何工都不可作．
but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates.
11 因為六日之內、耶和華造天、地、海、和其中的萬物、第七日便安息．所以耶和華賜福與安息日、定為聖日。
For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
12 當孝敬父母、使你的日子在耶和華你 神所賜你的地上、得以長久。
"Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.
13 不可殺人。
"You shall not murder.
14 不可姦淫。
"You shall not commit adultery.
15 不可偷盜。
"You shall not steal.
16 不可作假見證陷害人。
"You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.
17 不可貪戀人的房屋、也不可貪戀人的妻子、僕婢、牛驢、並他一切所有的。
"You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor."
出埃及記 (Exodus) 23:28-31
28 我要打發黃蜂飛在你前面、把希未人、迦南人、赫人、攆出去。
I will send the hornet ahead of you to drive the Hivites, Canaanites and Hittites out of your way.
29 我不在一年之內、將他們從你面前攆出去、恐怕地成為荒涼、野地的獸多起來害你。
But I will not drive them out in a single year, because the land would become desolate and the wild animals too numerous for you.
30 我要漸漸的將他們從你面前攆出去、等到你的人數加多、承受那地為業。
Little by little I will drive them out before you, until you have increased enough to take possession of the land.
31 我要定你的境界、從紅海直到非利士海、又從曠野直到大河．我要將那地的居民交在你手中、你要將他們從你面前攆出去。
"I will establish your borders from the Red Sea to the Sea of the Philistines, and from the desert to the River. I will hand over to you the people who live in the land and you will drive them out before you.
上帝應允亞伯拉罕, 時值饑荒, 希伯來人進入埃及買糧, 終為奴僕凡400年, 直到成為第四宗教世代先知的摩西, 帶走約莫兩百萬之眾的希伯來族人離開埃及, 跨紅海前往應許之地. 上帝為了試探他們, 期間還在荒野中生活了40年, 並頒布十誡的律令. 也有人稱為”摩西之律”!
** 眼下, 阿拉伯人想取回已被以色列國佔領的西奈高地, 以色列稱這是應許之地, 不肯退讓, 或許這就是中東地區, 迄今紛爭不斷, 戰事頻頻的癥結點之一吧!
