但以理書 Daniel 1:1, 7, 19-20
1 猶大王約雅敬在位第三年、巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒來到耶路撒冷、將城圍困。
In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it.
7 太監長給他們起名、稱但以理為伯提沙撒、稱哈拿尼雅為沙得拉、稱米沙利為米煞、稱亞撒利雅為亞伯尼歌。
The chief official gave them new names: to Daniel, the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abednego.
19 王與他們談論、見少年人中、無一人能比但以理、哈拿尼雅、米沙利、亞撒利雅、所以留他們在王面前侍立。
The king talked with them, and he found none equal to Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah; so they entered the king's service.
20 王考問他們一切事、就見他們的智慧聰明、比通國的術士、和用法術的、勝過十偣。
In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king questioned them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his whole kingdom.
巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒, 管理耶路撒冷城其間, 將神殿的器皿, 通通收藏入庫; 並挑選猶大王宗室和貴冑裡俊秀與聰明的年少, 除改名外, 還要他們侍立在王宮裡. 神, 使管理的太監長, 憐憫寬待他們, 並給予但以理們應有的知識, 以應付國王的垂詢.
但以理書 Daniel 2:1-3, 10-14, 16-18, 19-22, 26-28, 30, 34, 44-47
1 尼布甲尼撒在位第二年、他作了夢、心裡煩亂、不能睡覺。
In the second year of his reign, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams; his mind was troubled and he could not sleep.
2 王吩咐人將術士、用法術的、行邪術的、和迦勒底人召來、要他們將王的夢告訴王．他們就來站在王前．
So the king summoned the magicians, enchanters, sorcerers and astrologers to tell him what he had dreamed. When they came in and stood before the king,
3 王對他們說、我作了一夢、心裡煩亂、要知道這是甚麼夢。
he said to them, "I have had a dream that troubles me and I want to know what it means."
10 迦勒底人在王面前回答說、世上沒有人能將王所問的事說出來、因為沒有君王、大臣、掌權的、向術士、或用法術的、或迦勒底人、問過這樣的事．
The astrologers answered the king, "There is not a man on earth who can do what the king asks! No king, however great and mighty, has ever asked such a thing of any magician or enchanter or astrologer.
11 王所問的事甚難、除了不與世人同居的神明、沒有人在王面前能說出來。
What the king asks is too difficult. No one can reveal it to the king except the gods, and they
do not live among men."
12 因此王氣忿忿的大發烈怒、吩咐滅絕巴比倫所有的哲士．
This made the king so angry and furious that he ordered the execution of all the wise men of
Babylon.
一日, 尼布甲尼撒王, 做了一個夢, 要求眾人解夢. 因為王已忘記夢裡的事, 無法說出到底夢見什麼, 所以沒有人能解開王的夢境. 因此惹惱王想要殺國內智者與謀士.
13 於是命令發出、哲士將要見殺、人就尋找但以理和他的同伴、要殺他們。
So the decree was issued to put the wise men to death, and men were sent to look for Daniel and his friends to put them to death.
14 王的護衛長亞略出來、要殺巴比倫的哲士、但以理就用婉言回答他、
When Arioch, the commander of the king's guard, had gone out to put to death the wise men of Babylon, Daniel spoke to him with wisdom and tact.
16 但以理遂進去求王寬限、就可以將夢的講解告訴王。
At this, Daniel went in to the king and asked for time, so that he might interpret the dream for
him.
17 但以理回到他的居所、將這事告訴他的同伴哈拿尼雅、米沙利、亞撒利雅、
Then Daniel returned to his house and explained the matter to his friends Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah.
18 要他們祈求天上的 神施憐憫、將這奧秘的事指明、免得但以理和他的同伴、與巴比倫其餘的哲士、一同滅亡。
He urged them to plead for mercy from the God of heaven concerning this mystery, so that he and his friends might not be executed with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.
19 這奧秘的事、就在夜間異象中、給但以理顯明。但以理便稱頌天上的 神．
During the night the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised the God of heaven
20 但以理說、 神的名是應當稱頌的、從亙古直到永遠、因為智慧能力都屬乎他．
and said: "Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his.
21 他改變時候、日期、廢王、立王、將智慧賜與智慧人、將知識賜與聰明人．
He changes times and seasons; he sets up kings and deposes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.
22 他顯明深奧隱秘的事、知道暗中所有的、光明也與他同居。
He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him.
經但以理求情, 暫時停止追殺令的執行. 但以理隨同伴一起祈求禱告, 獲得神賜予顯明的異象, 知道王的夢境.
26 王問稱為伯提沙撒的但以理說、你能將我所作的夢、和夢的講解、告訴我麼。
The king asked Daniel (also called Belteshazzar), "Are you able to tell me what I saw in my
dream and interpret it?"
27 但以理在王面前回答說、王所問的那奧秘事、哲士、用法術的、術士、觀兆的、都不能告訴王．
Daniel replied, "No wise man, enchanter, magician or diviner can explain to the king the mystery he has asked about,
28 只有一位在天上的 神、能顯明奧秘的事他巳將日後必有的事、指示尼布甲尼撒王．你的夢、和你在床上腦中的異象是這樣。
but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries. He has shown King Nebuchadnezzar what will happen in days to come. Your dream and the visions that passed through your mind as you lay on your bed are these:
30 至於那奧秘的事顯明給我、並非因我的智慧勝過一切活人、乃為使王知道夢的講解、和心裡的思念。
As for me, this mystery has been revealed to me, not because I have greater wisdom than other living men, but so that you, O king, may know the interpretation and that you may understand what went through your mind.
34 你觀看、見有一塊非人手鑿出來的石頭、打在這像半鐵半泥的腳上、把腳砸碎、
While you were watching, a rock was cut out, but not by human hands. It struck the statue on its feet of iron and clay and smashed them.
44 當那列王在位的時候、天上的 神必另立一國、永不敗壞、也不歸別國的人、卻要打碎滅絕那一切國、這國必存到永遠。
"In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be
destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring
them to an end, but it will itself endure forever.
45 你既看見非人手鑿出來的一塊石頭、從山而出、打碎金、銀、銅、鐵、泥、那就是至大的 神把後來必有的事給王指明．這夢準是這樣、這講解也是確實的。
This is the meaning of the vision of the rock cut out of a mountain, but not by human hands--a
rock that broke the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver and the gold to pieces. "The great God has shown the king what will take place in the future. The dream is true and the interpretation is trustworthy."
46 當時尼布甲尼撒王、俯伏在地、向但以理下拜、並且吩咐人給他奉上供物和香品。
Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell prostrate before Daniel and paid him honor and ordered that an offering and incense be presented to him.
47 王對但以理說、你既能顯明這奧秘的事、你們的 神、誠然是萬 神之 神、萬王之主、又是顯明奧秘事的。
The king said to Daniel, "Surely your God is the God of gods and the Lord of kings and a
revealer of mysteries, for you were able to reveal this mystery."
但以理向尼布甲尼撒王說明夢境內容, 並告知這是他祈求大能的神, 耶和華才讓他知道. 雖然尼布甲尼撒王這時, 對於萬能神的無所不知驚訝不已, 但是仍認為那是但以理的神, 並未誠心敬拜, 此同時耶和華已預見尼布甲尼撒王, 將再另立神偶敬拜.
但以理書 Daniel 3:1, 4-6, 12-13, 16-18, 24-26, 27-29
1 尼布甲尼撒王造了一個金像、高六十肘、寬六肘、立在巴比倫省杜拉平原．
King Nebuchadnezzar made an image of gold, ninety feet high and nine feet wide, and set it up on the plain of Dura in the province of Babylon.
4 那時傳令的、大聲呯叫說、各方、各國、各族的人哪〔族原文作舌下同〕、有令傳與你們。
Then the herald loudly proclaimed, "This is what you are commanded to do, O peoples, nations and men of every language:
5 你們一聽見角、笛、琵琶、琴、瑟、笙、和各樣樂器的聲音、就當俯伏敬拜尼布甲尼撒王所立的金像．
As soon as you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipes and all kinds of
music, you must fall down and worship the image of gold that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up.
6 凡不俯伏敬拜的、必立時扔在烈火的中。
Whoever does not fall down and worship will immediately be thrown into a blazing furnace."
12 現在有幾個猶大人、就是王所派管理巴比倫省事務的沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌、王阿、這些人不理你、不事奉你的神、也不敬拜你所立的金像。
But there are some Jews whom you have set over the affairs of the province of Babylon--Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego--who pay no attention to you, O king. They neither serve your gods nor worship the image of gold you have set up."
13 當時尼布甲尼撒沖沖大怒、吩咐人把沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌帶過來、他們就把那些人帶到王面前。
Furious with rage, Nebuchadnezzar summoned Shadrach, Meshach
尼布甲尼撒王, 既已另立神偶, 就大肆宣揚, 並通令各族人民, 都須敬拜新神偶, 如有違規抗命者, 當丟進火爐焚燒.
24 那時尼布甲尼撒王驚奇、急忙起來、對謀士說、我捆起來扔在火裡的不是三個人麼．他們回答王說、王阿、是．
Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers, "Weren't there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?" They replied, "Certainly, O king."
25 王說、看哪、我見有四個人、並沒有捆綁、在火中遊行、也沒有受傷、那第四個的相貌、好像神子。
He said, "Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods."
26 於是尼布甲尼撒就近烈火門、說、至高 神的僕人沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌出來、上這裡來罷．沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌、就從火中出來了。
Nebuchadnezzar then approached the opening of the blazing furnace and shouted, "Shadrach,
Meshach and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out! Come here!" So Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego came out of the fire,
27 那些總督、欽差、巡撫、和王的謀士、一同聚集看這三個人、見火無力傷他們的身體、頭髮也沒有燒焦、衣裳也沒有變色、並沒有火燎的氣味。
and the satraps, prefects, governors and royal advisers crowded around them. They saw that the fire had not harmed their bodies, nor was a hair of their heads singed; their robes were not
scorched, and there was no smell of fire on them.
28 尼布甲尼撒說、沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌的 神、是應當稱頌的、他差遣使者救護倚靠他的僕人、他們不遵王命、捨去己身、在他們 神以外不肯事奉敬拜別神．
Then Nebuchadnezzar said, "Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted in him and defied the king's command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.
29 現在我降旨、無論何方何國何族的人、謗讟沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌之 神的、必被凌遲、他的房屋必成糞堆、因為沒有別神能這樣施行拯救。
Therefore I decree that the people of any nation or language who say anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego be cut into pieces and their houses be turned into piles of rubble, for no other god can save in this way."
堅持信念的但以理等人, 絕不敬拜新的神偶, 並已有為捍衛耶和華的正道犧牲的決心; 當尼布甲尼撒王將但以理等人, 綑綁還沒有送入火爐, 那押解的人反倒是已起火燃燒, 而但以理等人卻毫髮無傷的與耶和華的使者在火爐裡相談甚歡. 尼布甲尼撒王見狀, 趕緊將他們請出火爐, 終於相信但以理口中的神, 是真神也! 自此之後, 通令改變信靠耶和華.
士師記 Judges 6:1-2, 7-8, 12-16
1 以色列人又行耶和華眼中看為惡的事．耶和華就把他們交在米甸人手裡七年。
Again the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the LORD, and for seven years he gave them into the hands of the Midianites.
2 米甸人壓制以色列人、以色列人因為米甸人、就在山中挖穴、挖洞、建造營寨。
Because the power of Midian was so oppressive, the Israelites prepared shelters for themselves
in mountain clefts, caves and strongholds.
7 以色列人因米甸人的緣故、呼求耶和華、
When the Israelites cried to the LORD because of Midian,
8 耶和華就差遣先知到以色列人那裡、對他們說、耶和華以色列的 神、如此說、我曾領你們從埃及上來、出了為奴之家．
he sent them a prophet, who said, "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: I brought you up out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
12 耶和華的使者向基甸顯現、對他說、大能的勇士阿、耶和華與你同在。
When the angel of the LORD appeared to Gideon, he said, "The LORD is with you, mighty warrior."
13 基甸說、主阿、耶和華若與我們同在、我們何至遭遇這一切事呢．我們的列祖不是向我們說、耶和華領我們從埃及上來麼．他那樣奇妙的作為在那裡呢．現在他卻丟棄我們、將我們交在米甸人手裡。
"But sir," Gideon replied, "if the LORD is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our fathers told us about when they said, 'Did not the LORD bring us up out of Egypt?' But now the LORD has abandoned us and put us into the hand of Midian."
14 耶和華觀看基甸、說、你靠著你這能力去從米甸人手裡拯救以色列人．不是我差遣你去的麼。
The LORD turned to him and said, "Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian's hand. Am I not sending you?"
15 基甸說、主阿、我有何能拯救以色列人呢．我家在瑪拿西支派中、是至貧窮的．我在我父家是至微小的。
"But Lord," Gideon asked, "how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family."
16 耶和華對他說、我與你同在、你就必擊打米甸人、如擊打一人一樣。
The LORD answered, "I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites together."
以色列人又有一段時間, 不遵守耶和華的誡律, 終又淪為米甸人的奴僕. 為此以色列人痛定思痛, 祈求呼喊耶和華的幫助; 耶和華就派遣使者, 告知以色列人, 我曾領你們離開為奴400年的埃及, 現在依著你們的信心, 讓我再來帶領你們離開米甸人.
士師記 Judges 7:1-7
1 耶路巴力、就是基甸、他和一切跟隨的人、早晨起來、在哈律泉旁安營．米甸營在他們北邊的平原、靠近摩利岡。
Early in the morning, Jerub-Baal (that is, Gideon) and all his men camped at the spring of
Harod. The camp of Midian was north of them in the valley near the hill of Moreh.
2 耶和華對基甸說、跟隨你的人過多、我不能將米甸人交在他們手中、免得以色列人向我誇大、說、是我們自己的手救了我們。
The LORD said to Gideon, "You have too many men for me to deliver Midian into their hands. In order that Israel may not boast against me that her own strength has saved her,
3 現在你要向這些人宣告說、凡懼怕膽怯的、可以離開基列山回去．於是有二萬二千人回去．只剩下一萬。
announce now to the people, 'Anyone who trembles with fear may turn back and leave Mount
Gilead.'" So twenty-two thousand men left, while ten thousand remained.
4 耶和華對基甸說、人還是過多．你要帶他們下到水旁、我好在那裡為你試試他們．我指點誰說、這人可以同你去、他就可以同你去．我指點誰說、這人不可同你去、他就不可同你去。
But the LORD said to Gideon, "There are still too many men. Take them down to the water, and I will sift them for you there. If I say, 'This one shall go with you,' he shall go; but if I say,
'This one shall not go with you,' he shall not go."
5 基甸就帶他們下到水旁．耶和華對基甸說、凡用舌頭餂水、像狗餂的、要使他單站在一處．凡跪下喝水的、也要使他單站在一處。
So Gideon took the men down to the water. There the LORD told him, "Separate those who lap the water with their tongues like a dog from those who kneel down to drink."
6 於是用手捧著餂水的有三百人．其餘的都跪下喝水。
Three hundred men lapped with their hands to their mouths. All the rest got down on their knees to drink.
7 耶和華對基甸說、我要用這餂水的三百人拯救你們、將米甸人交在你手中．其餘的人、都可以各歸各處去。
The LORD said to Gideon, "With the three hundred men that lapped I will save you and give the Midianites into your hands. Let all the other men go, each to his own place."
耶和華對基甸說, 不能以人數眾多來戰勝敵人, 避免落人口實, 說我是以多欺少, 豈有不勝的道理. 於是, 矚咐基甸, 將那三萬多大軍, 辭退泰半, 僅剰一萬人; 耶和華又說我要的是虔誠的心和絕對的信念, 只要那對生命之泉, 跪下捧水喝的, 其餘都遣退, 就這一番撿選, 竟只剩下三百勇士. 最後, 基甸就靠著對耶和華無比堅毅的信心和三百勇士, 打敗了米甸人.
箴言 Proverbs 3:1-6
1 我兒、不要忘記我的法則．〔或作指教〕你心要謹守我的誡命．
My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart,
2 因為他必將長久的日子、生命的年數、與平安、加給你。
for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity.
3 不可使慈愛誠實離開你．要繫在你頸項上、刻在你心版上．
Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.
4 這樣、你必在 神和世人眼前蒙恩寵、有聰明。
Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.
5 你要專心仰賴耶和華、不可倚靠自己的聰明．
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
6 在你一切所行的事上、都要認定他、他必指引你的路。
in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
大衛王, 蒙耶和華恩賜, 成了以色列偉大的君王, 而他的兒子所羅門王, 也是世人讚美的君王. 睿智如所羅門王(可還記得聖經裡判別孩子生母的記載), 依然兢兢業業, 專心仰賴耶和華、不倚靠自己的聰明, 並在一切所行的事上、都認定他、由耶和華指引他的路.
以賽亞書 Isaiah 55:6-9
6 當趁耶和華可尋找的時候尋找他、相近的時候求告他．
Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near.
7 惡人當離棄自己的道路．不義的人當除掉自己的意念、歸向耶和華、耶和華就必憐恤他．當歸向我們的 神、因為 神必廣行赦免。
Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.
8 耶和華說、我的意念、非同你們的意念、我的道路、非同你們的道路。
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD.
9 天怎樣高過地、照樣我的道路、高過你們的道路、我的意念、高過你們的意念。
"As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
祈求必回應; 尋找必尋著; 敲門必開門. 這是寬宏大量的耶和華, 給予我們的承諾, 只要你用心信靠他, 遵守他的戒律, 耶和華也會實現他對我們的承諾.
