我先解釋一下‘Stubbornness’,這個字有固執、倔強、頑固等同義詞,看起來針對人的個性來說,就不是個好字眼,深遠來講,這樣個性的人,當然還有其他三心兩意、拖拖拉拉的人.都不會是可以取悅於 神的人.

我的姓氏源自於荷蘭,一個懷有固執意涵的血統,當然並不是每個人皆如此;我曾經看過車後保險桿的貼紙,上面有一句話,‘You can tell a Dutchman but you can’t tell him much’我太太笑說.就是在嘲弄荷蘭人,不肯接受改變的固執個性.
我雖然不覺得此話當真,但是我太太卻常說我很固執,日子久了,我都要開始相信這句話是真的啦(一笑)!這不是好的品性和特質,也不是當成是財富或美德,而且聖經裡面,有很多相關固執的警示經文.
撒母耳記上 1 Samuel 15:23
15:23 悖逆與行邪術的罪相等；頑梗與拜虛神和家神相同。你既厭棄耶和華的話，耶和華也厭棄你作王。
For rebellion is like the sin of divination, And insubordination is like idolatry and teraphim. Because you have rejected the word of Jehovah, He has also rejected you from being king.
經文明顯的指出,頑固不順服 神,等同悖逆和行邪術的罪,神不願看到人,如此的背離正義,不只因為罪而懦弱,更會拖延接受 神的心思.
以賽亞書 Isaiah 48:4
48:4 因為我素來知道你是頑梗的，你的頸項是鐵筋，你的額是銅的；
Because I knew that you are obstinate, And your neck is an iron sinew, And your forehead brass;
‘Sinew’是連結肌肉和骨頭的腱或筋的意思,這裡形容頑固的人,硬頸如鐵,額頭似銅,簡直就是如銅似鐵般鋼硬,(類似台語所說的阿達馬控古力),同時也是心腸硬如鐵,因此拒 神於千里之外的人.
這裡有一個說法,沒有人會像看不見的人,一樣的看不到,換句話說,就是故意的忽視,故意的視而不見.耶穌基督在世時,他常碰到的那一群法利賽人Pharisees就是這一種人.
馬可福音 Mark 3:1-6
3:1 耶穌又進了會堂，在那裡有一個人，枯乾了一隻手。
And He entered again into the synagogue; and there was a man there who had a withered hand.
3:2 眾人窺探耶穌，在安息日要不要醫治那人，為的是要控告祂。
And they were watching Him closely to see if He would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse Him.
3:3 耶穌就對那枯乾手的人說，起來，站在當中。
And He said to the man who had the withered hand, Rise and stand in the midst.
3:4 又對他們說，在安息日行善作惡，救命害命，那樣是可以的？他們都不作聲。
And He said to them, Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill? But they remained silent.
3:5 耶穌怒目環視他們，因他們的心剛硬而甚憂愁，就對那人說，伸出手來。他一伸，手就復了原。
And looking around at them with anger and being greatly grieved with the hardness of their heart, He said to the man, Stretch out your hand. And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored.
3:6 法利賽人出去，即刻同希律黨人商議，怎樣抵擋祂，為要除滅祂。
And the Pharisees went out and immediately took counsel with the Herodians against Him as to how they might destroy Him.
法利賽人,不僅心硬如鐵,還視而不見;及至在會堂裡,見到耶穌基督的善行,醫治手枯的人,竟起了加害之心,甚至想置祂於死地.
尼腓二書 2 Nephi 6:65-66
６５ 那不肯聽的聾子有禍了；因為他們必滅亡。
65 And wo unto the deaf, that will not hear: for they shall perish.
６６ 那不肯看的瞎子有福了；因為他們也必滅亡。
66 Wo unto the blind, that will not see: for they shall perish also.
約翰福音 John 9:41
41 耶穌對他們說，你們若瞎了眼，就沒有罪了；但現在你們說，我們看得見，所以你們的罪還存在。
Jesus said to them, If you were blind, you would not have sin; but now that you say, We see; your sin remains.
如此一來,聽而不應,視而不見者,都當如此罪有應得,而罪的工價就是死.所以頑固的心,傷害我們的靈,甚至使靈枯竭.
高速公路或街區邊,常見到豎立的大型告示板,有些廣告,或是說明的信息.上回提到過的大衛馬卡斯蘭David McCasland,在每日靈糧訊息中,告訴我們一系列的大型告示板,紅底寫上大大的白字,使每部經過的車主,都無法避免看見它的存在.
它上面寫著’本年度有上千人,將死於自己的固執This year thousands of men will die from stubbornness’且這告示板是針對中年人而設的,因為他們疏忽於年度的健康檢查,而本來他們因檢查,若病症早期發覺是可以避免死亡的.
所以說,固執的心同樣可以引起軀體的死亡的.
摩賽亞書 Mosiah 1:116-120
１１６ 我還要告訴你們，除了祗有依靠和藉著全能之主，基督的名外，決不會賜給任何別的名，別的道路或方法，使救恩能藉以臨到人類兒女。
116 And moreover, I say unto you, that there shall be no other name given, nor any other way nor means whereby salvation can come unto the children of men, only in and through the name of Christ, the Lord Omnipotent.
１１７ 因為審判在他，而他的判決是公正的；那在幼年中死亡的小孩是不會滅亡的；
117 For behold, he judgeth, and his judgment is just, and the infant perisheth not, that dieth in his infancy;
１１８ 但是成人們，他們把罪刑喝進自己的靈魂。除非他們使自己謙卑，成為像小孩一樣，並相信救恩在過去、現在、和將來，都是依靠和經由全能之主基督的救贖之血而來的。
118 But men drink damnation to their own souls, except they humble themselves, and become as little children, and believe that salvation was, and is, and is to come, in and through the atoning blood of Christ, the Lord Omnipotent:
１１９ 因為自然人是 神的敵人，從亞墮落起就如此，將來如此，永遠也如此；
119 For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been, from the fall of Adam, and will be, for ever and ever;
１２０ 除非他服從聖靈的誘導，脫離自然人，藉著上主基督的救讀而成為聖徒，並成為像一個小孩，服從、溫順、謙恭、有耐性、充滿著愛、樂於服從上主認為適於加在他身上的一切，像一個孩子服從他的父親。
120 But if he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man, and becometh a saint, through the atonement of Christ, the Lord, and becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father.
重複一遍: 除非他服從聖靈的誘導，脫離自然人，藉著上主基督的救讀而成為聖徒，並成為像一個小孩，服從、溫順、謙恭、有耐性、充滿著愛、樂於服從上主認為適於加在他身上的一切，像一個孩子服從他的父親。
阿爾瑪書 Alma 16:136-141
１３６ 我對你們說過，由於你們被迫成為謙卑，你們有福了；你們不以為那些由於 神的話語而真正謙抑他們自己的，他們更加有福嗎？
136 And now as I said unto you, that because ye were compelled to be humble, ye were blessed, do ye not suppose that they are more blessed who truly humble themselves because of the word?
１３７ 是的，凡真正謙抑自己，悔改他的罪，並持守到底的，必蒙祝福；是的，比那些由於極度貧窮而被迫謙卑的人更有福得多。所以，那些沒有被迫謙卑而自己謙抑的人有福了；
137 Yea, he that truly humbleth himself and repenteth of his sins, and endureth to the end, the same be blessed; yea, much more blessed than they who are compelled to be humble, because of their exceeding poverty; therefore blessed are they who humble themselves without being compelled to be humble,
１３８ 或者，換句話說，凡心地不頑強，不須被誘導甚至被強迫知道，就相信 神的道而受洗的他有福了。
138 Or rather, in other words, Blessed is he that believeth in the word of God, and is baptized without stubbornness of heart; yea, without being brought to know the word, or even compelled to know, before they will believe.
１３９ 有許多人說：如果你顯一個天上的神蹟給我們看，那時就好確實知道；那時我們就會相信了。
139 Yea, there are many who do say, If thou wilt shew unto us a sign from heaven, then we shall know of a surety; then we shall believe.
１４０ 現在我要問，這是信心嗎？我告訴你們，決不是的；因為如果一個人已知道一件事，他就不要原因去相信，因為他已知道了。
140 Now I ask, Is this faith? Behold, I say unto you, Nay; for if a man knoweth a thing, he hath no cause to believe, for he knoweth it.
１４１ 而一個已知道 神的旨意而不去做的人，他應受的災禍，較之那祗是相信或祗有相信的原因而流於犯罪的人，要大多少呢？你們必須按照這件事被審判。
141 And now how much more cursed is he that knoweth the will of God and doeth it not, than he that only believeth, or only hath cause to believe, and falleth into transgression? Now of this thing, ye must judge.
順服 神的旨意,不能有任何的理由,並且要卸除頑固的心思.
阿爾瑪書 Alma 10:27
２７ 現在，我的弟兄們，我從內心的最深處，帶著極大的憂傷，甚至帶著痛苦，希望你們要聽從我的話，拋棄你們罪，並且不拖延你們悔改的日子，
27 And now my brethren, I wish from the inmost part of my heart, yea, with great anxiety, even unto pain, that ye would hearken unto my words, and cast off your sins, and not procrastinate the day of your repentance;
悔改正是時候,不要再拖拖拉拉的.
阿爾瑪書 Alma 16:233
２３３ 因為如果你們把你們悔改的日子拖延到死亡的時候，你們就變成屬於魔鬼的靈了，他已確定你們是屬於他的了。
233 For behold, if ye have procrastinated the day of your repentance, even until death, behold, ye have become subjected to the spirit of the devil, and he doth seal you his;
教義與聖約 Doctrine and Covenants (D&C) 142:5b
[Sec 142：5b]現在還是可以工作的日子。夜晚即將來臨，對於我的許多人來說，提供協助的機會將會過去。
[Sec 142:5b] It is yet day when all can work. The night will come when for many of my people opportunity to assist will have passed.
悔改是隨時隨地,都可以來到 神面前申訴的,不要一延再延,錯失良機.
[常聽人說:明天和無常,不知道誰會先來到,大概就是這句話的意思了.]
路加福音 Luke 12:18:20
12:18 又說，我要這樣辦：要把我的倉房拆了，另蓋更大的，好在那裡收藏我一切的麥子和財物。
And he said, I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and I will gather there all my wheat and my goods.
12:19 然後要對我的魂說，魂哪，你有許多財物積存，可供多年享用，你休息吧，吃喝快樂吧。
And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; rest, eat, drink, be merry.
12:20 神卻對他說，無知的人哪，今夜必要你的魂；你所預備的，要歸誰？
But God said to him, Foolish one, this night they are requiring your soul from you; and the things which you have prepared, whose will they be?
這節經文,很明確的點出,今天如何預知明天的事,所以積銀存糧,說是好為預後,豈真能如人所願?其實積銀存糧,這是很愚昧的行為.
悔改,勢在必行,就不要拖拖拉拉的,才是明智的選擇;錯過今天的機會,你還想等到甚麼時候?
