西元前1380BC到980BC , 這410年之間, 耶和華與人民有約, 遵守誡律者, 可受到愛的保護與平安. 可是人民一直在4S 的錯與悔改的循環中,
1S – Sin 敬拜它神, 並與異族通婚
2S – Servitude 受魔鬼 Devil 誘惑一直在做壞事
3S – Supplication 悔悟後祈求神的原諒
4S – Salvation 冀望神的救贖與恩典
上星期談到第一位Judges-執法官是： Gideon 基甸 (士師記 Judges 6+7 章)
而第二位Judges-執法官是： Samson 參孫 (士師記 Judges 14:1-6)
1 參孫下到亭拿、在那裡看見一個女子、是非利士人的女兒。
Samson went down to Timnah and saw there a young Philistine woman.
2 參孫上來稟告他父母說、我在亭拿看見一個女子、是非利士人的女兒、願你們給我娶來為妻。
When he returned, he said to his father and mother, "I have seen a Philistine woman in Timnah; now get her for me as my wife."
3 他父母說、在你弟兄的女兒中、或在本國的民中、豈沒有一個女子、何至你去在未受割禮的非利士人中娶妻呢．參孫對他父親說、願你給我娶那女子、因我喜悅他。
His father and mother replied, "Isn't there an acceptable woman among your relatives or among all our people? Must you go to the uncircumcised Philistines to get a wife?" But Samson said to his father, "Get her for me. She's the right one for me."
4 他的父母卻不知道這事是出於耶和華、因為他找機會攻擊非利士人．那時非利士人轄制以色列人。
(His parents did not know that this was from the LORD, who was seeking an occasion to confront the Philistines; for at that time they were ruling over Israel .)
5 參孫跟他父母下亭拿去、到了亭拿的葡萄園、見有一隻少壯獅子向他吼叫．
Samson went down to Timnah together with his father and mother. As they approached the vineyards of Timnah, suddenly a young lion came roaring toward him.
6 耶和華的靈大大感動參孫、他雖然手無器械、卻將獅子撕裂、如同撕裂山羊羔一樣．他行這事並沒有告訴父母。
The Spirit of the LORD came upon him in power so that he tore the lion apart with his bare hands as he might have torn a young goat. But he told neither his father nor his mother what he had done.
(士師記 Judges 16:28-31 )
28 參孫求告耶和華說、主耶和華阿、求你眷念我． 神阿、求你賜我這一次的力量、使我在非利士人身上報那剜我雙眼的仇。
Then Samson prayed to the LORD, "O Sovereign LORD, remember me. O God, please strengthen me just once more, and let me with one blow get revenge on the Philistines for my two eyes."
29 參孫就抱住托房的那兩根柱子．左手抱一根、右手抱一根、
Then Samson reached toward the two central pillars on which the temple stood. Bracing himself against them, his right hand on the one and his left hand on the other,
30 說、我情願與非利士人同死．就盡力屈身、房子倒塌、壓住首領和房內的眾人。這樣、參孫死時所殺的人、比活著所殺的還多。
Samson said, "Let me die with the Philistines!" Then he pushed with all his might, and down came the temple on the rulers and all the people in it. Thus he killed many more when he died than while he lived.
31 參孫的弟兄和他父的全家、都下去取他的屍首、抬上來葬在瑣拉和以實陶中間、在他父瑪挪亞的墳墓裡。參孫作以色列的士師二十年。
Then his brothers and his father's whole family went down to get him. They brought him back and buried him between Zorah and Eshtaol in the tomb of Manoah his father. He had led Israel twenty years.
和第三位Judges-執法官是： Micah 米迦 (士師記 Judges 17:6-13)
6 那時以色列中沒有王、各人任意而行。
In those days Israel had no king; everyone did as he saw fit.
7 猶大伯利恆有一個少年人、是猶大族的利未人、他在那裡寄居。
A young Levite from Bethlehem in Judah, who had been living within the clan of Judah ,
8 這人離開猶大伯利恆城、要找一個可住的地方．行路的時候、到了以法蓮山地、走到米迦的家。
left that town in search of some other place to stay. On his way he came to Micah's house in the hill country of Ephraim.
9 米迦問他說、你從那裡來．他回答說、從猶大伯利恆來、我是利未人、要找一個可住的地方。
Micah asked him, "Where are you from?" "I'm a Levite from Bethlehem in Judah ," he said, "and I'm looking for a place to stay."
10 米迦說、你可以住在我這裡、我以你為父為祭司．我每年給你十舍客勒銀子、一套衣服、和度日的食物．利未人就進了他的家。
Then Micah said to him, "Live with me and be my father and priest, and I'll give you ten shekels of silver a year, your clothes and your food."
11 利未人情願與那人同住．那人看這少年人如自己的兒子一樣。
So the Levite agreed to live with him, and the young man was to him like one of his sons.
12 米迦分派這少年的利未人作祭司、他就住在米迦的家裡。
Then Micah installed the Levite, and the young man became his priest and lived in his house.
13 米迦說、現在我知道耶和華必賜福與我、因我有一個利未人作祭司。
And Micah said, "Now I know that the LORD will be good to me, since this Levite has become my priest."
神也一直選擇原諒再原諒…並揀選新的領導人, 來帶領迷途的羔羊, 如此的循循善誘, 凡410年之間, 一共經歷了十二位的Judges-執法官, 還是沒能讓人民的不守誡律給矯正過來.
(不管是Prophets-先知Judges-執法官Kings-國王, 這些都是聖經裡對當時領導者的稱謂)
聖經裡, 談到女性的章節, 不下數十或上百篇, 而路得 Ruth是聖經裡有專題史記的唯二女性, (另一位是以斯帖 Esther); Ruth 是 Naomi 的媳婦, 其夫死後, Naomi 要她離去再改嫁, 可是 Ruth 不肯離開, 並隨婆婆回到本家伯利恆拾穗過活, 被地主 Boaz 瞧見後娶她進門, 生下 Obed, Obed 生下 Jesse, 而 Jesse 生下 David, 也就是後來以色列國的大衛王. (詳情請參閱路得記)
還有一點時間, 我們再來談談撒母耳記上 1 Samuel, 裡面記載 Hannah 因久婚不孕, 多次入寺廟祈求, 一日祭司以利 Eli 對她說神已應允妳, 將穫麟兒! 不久果真懷孕生下 Samuel ,
撒母耳記上1 Samuel 1:17-20
17 以利說、你可以平平安安的回去、願以色列的 神允准你向他所求的。
Eli answered, "Go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant you what you have asked of him."
18 哈拿說、願婢女在你眼前蒙恩．於是婦人走去喫飯、面上再不帶愁容了。
She said, "May your servant find favor in your eyes." Then she went her way and ate something, and her face was no longer downcast.
19 次日清早他們起來、在耶和華面前敬拜、就回拉瑪、到了家裡、以利加拿和妻哈拿同房、耶和華顧念哈拿、
Early the next morning they arose and worshiped before the LORD and then went back to their home at Ramah. Elkanah lay with Hannah his wife, and the LORD remembered her.
20 哈拿就懷孕．日期滿足生了一個兒子、給他起名叫撒母耳、說、這是我從耶和華那裡求來的。
So in the course of time Hannah conceived and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, saying, "Because I asked the LORD for him."
撒母耳記上1 Samuel 3:19-20
19 撒母耳長大了、耶和華與他同在、使他所說的話、一句都不落空。
The LORD was with Samuel as he grew up, and he let none of his words fall to the ground.
20 從但到別是巴所有的以色列人、都知道耶和華立撒母耳為先知。
And all Israel from Dan to Beersheba recognized that Samuel was attested as a prophet of the LORD.
撒母耳記上1 Samuel 4:17-18
17 報信的回答說、以色列人在非利士人面前逃跑、民中被殺的甚多．你的兩個兒子何弗尼、非尼哈也都死了、並且 神的約櫃被擄去。
The man who brought the news replied, " Israel fled before the Philistines, and the army has suffered heavy losses. Also your two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and the ark of God has been captured."
18 他一題 神的約櫃、以利就從他的位上往後跌倒、在門旁折斷頸項而死、因為他年紀老邁、身體沉重。以利作以色列的士師四十年。
When he mentioned the ark of God, Eli fell backward off his chair by the side of the gate. His neck was broken and he died, for he was an old man and heavy. He had led Israel forty years.
撒母耳雖然立他兒子為士師, 卻因兒子並不遵從他的道, 也不守誡律, 以色列眾長老聚集, 要求已年邁的撒母耳為他們立一個王.
撒母耳記上1 Samuel 8:6-7
6 撒母耳不喜悅他們說、立一個王治理我們．他就禱告耶和華。
But when they said, "Give us a king to lead us," this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the LORD.
7 耶和華對撒母耳說、百姓向你說的一切話、你只管依從、因為他們不是厭棄你、乃是厭棄我、不要我作他們的王。
And the LORD told him: "Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king.
撒母耳記上1 Samuel 9:15-17
15 掃羅未到的前一日、耶和華已經指示撒母耳說、
Now the day before Saul came, the LORD had revealed this to Samuel:
16 明日這時候、我必使一個人從便雅憫地到你這裡來、你要膏他作我民以色列的君．他必救我民脫離非利士人的手、因我民的哀聲上達於我、我就眷顧他們。
"About this time tomorrow I will send you a man from the land of Benjamin . Anoint him leader over my people Israel ; he will deliver my people from the hand of the Philistines. I have looked upon my people, for their cry has reached me."
17 撒母耳看見掃羅的時候、耶和華對他說、看哪、這人就是我對你所說的、他必治理我的民。
When Samuel caught sight of Saul, the LORD said to him, "This is the man I spoke to you about; he will govern my people."
所以, 撒母耳的兒子當士師以後, 就再也沒有士師了, 領導人改為是國王的稱號.
